FirstGen Collective
FirstGen Collective exists to make lived experience visible—through storytelling, editorial work, and publishing that preserves, amplifies, and carries those stories forward. A culturally rooted brand built on pride, representation, and community, we began as an apparel brand (FirstGen Designs)—but have grown into a storytelling ecosystem. Through personal narratives, contextualized data, and intentional designs we honor journeys shaped without a clear blueprint and build space for those whose stories deserve to be amplified.
Room by Room: Reflections on Building Without a Blueprint
Room by Room is a reflective nonfiction book about the workplace experiences, unwritten rules, and lessons that shape first-generation and underrepresented professionals building careers without a blueprint.
Through the rooms of her career, Georgette Orr gives language to the preparation, observation, adjustments, and experiences that often become second nature long before we understand what shaped them.
Room by Room offers language for that experience.
Not to define it.
Not to resolve it.
But to recognize it.
